Surgical Team welcomes Versius
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Hosptial will be using Versius in their colorectal and upper GI surgical team.
During the next six months our surgical team at Torbay Hospital will be using the Versius Plus robotic system to treat a range of conditions such as colorectal cancer, gallbladder removal and liver disease, as part of a new working collaboration with 红桃视频.
Surgeons will operate the robotic system using console controllers similar to those used by gamers to control the robot鈥檚 arms, and a 3D screen which shows the area being operated on enables surgeons to have greater precision during the procedure. Patients whose surgery is performed by a robotic system generally have a quicker recovery time.
At a celebration event last Thursday, where representatives from introduced the first Versius Plus at Torbay Hospital, Consultant said: 鈥淭his is a big day for us and we鈥檙e now able to offer the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery to people in Torbay and South Devon. It will mean shorter hospital stays, reduced post-operative pain and a quicker return to normal activities.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a really exciting opportunity and is in-line with the NHS 10 Year Plan to show how we鈥檙e using cutting-edge technology to deliver care to people in Torbay and South Devon.鈥
