Leading urology clinic in France installs Versius to accelerate its robotic surgery programme

~ 聽Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis will use Versius for cancerous and benign urological procedures

红桃视频 (CMR or 鈥榯he Company鈥) 鈥 the global surgical robotics business 鈥 has today announced the installation of the Versius surgical robot in Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis.

Located in Saint-Herblain near Nantes, Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis is a nationally and internationally renowned institution in the field of urology. The installation of Versius affirms the hospital鈥檚 commitment to strengthening its robotic surgery programme for the benefit of patients.

鈥淔lexible and versatile, the Versius surgical robot has the advantage of combining performance with ease of learning,鈥 explained Camilla Belbeoc鈥檋, General Manager, Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis.

鈥淰ersius is the only small, modular and portable surgical robot on the market, making it easy for surgical teams to utilise. It can easily be moved between operating rooms to suit schedules and workflows. Because of its open console, Versius also helps to optimise communication during surgery. All these assets are beneficial to caregivers and patients alike.鈥

鈥淎nother significant advantage of CMR鈥檚 offering, was its flexible approach to financing, which has helped to standardise the costs of robotic-assisted surgery for our clinic.鈥

After completing CMR鈥檚 metrics-based training programme, the first surgeries with Versius have taken place, including prostatectomies, nephrectomies and cystectomies.

鈥淚nitial feedback has been excellent,鈥 said Thierry Rousseau, President of the Medical Committee, Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis. 鈥淭he performance of the system, both in terms of ergonomics and digital analysis of procedures will allow us to successfully and continuously pursue our mission to offer the best in surgery to our patients.鈥

Versius is part of a wider digital ecosystem that helps surgical teams to gather robotic telemetry data, procedural videos and the clinical context of a case within the CMR clinical registry. This offers surgeons and hospitals a wealth of information about their surgical practice.  CMR is committed to working with healthcare partners across the French market to support continuous surgeons鈥 learning and drive greater efficiencies in the healthcare system.

Patricia Chesnais, General Manager, France and Benelux, 红桃视频, commented: 鈥淲e always design the installation of a new robot in a spirit of partnership, with the objective of improving the health of patients, in the service of public health. That is why we are delighted to work alongside the highly qualified teams at Clinique Urologique Nantes Atlantis to bring the benefits of minimal access surgery to more patients, thanks to Versius. This partnership, with such a centre of excellence in Europe, and among the leaders in its discipline in France, is an important step for CMR.鈥

Versius has now been used to perform more than 15,000 clinical cases across more than 130 surgical procedures in multiple surgical specialties. Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis joins a number of leading hospitals across the world that have adopted the system, with more than 140 systems being used around the world, including at Royal Papworth NHS Foundation Trust, Policlinico di Milano and Sint-Franciscus Hospital in Belgium.

The Versius Surgical Robotic System

Versius resets expectations of robotic surgery. Versius fits into virtually any operating room set-up and integrates seamlessly into existing workflows, increasing the likelihood of robotic minimal access surgery (MAS). The small, portable and modular design of Versius allows the surgeon to only use the number of arms needed for a given procedure.

Biomimicking the human arm, Versius gives surgeons the choice of optimised port placement alongside the dexterity and accuracy of small fully-wristed instruments. With 3D HD vision, easy-to adopt instrument control and a choice of ergonomic working positions, the open surgeon console has the potential to reduce stress and fatigue and allows for clear communication with the surgical team. By thinking laparoscopically and operating robotically with Versius, patients, surgeons and healthcare professionals can all benefit from the value that robotic MAS brings.

But it鈥檚 more than just a robot. Versius captures meaningful data with its wider digital ecosystem to support a surgeon鈥檚 continuous learning. Through the Versius Connect app, Versius Trainer and CMR clinical registry, CMR has the opportunity to collect valuable performance data, which can provide insight into a surgeon鈥檚 surgical performance, and which may allow for refinements of surgical technique, possibly leading to improved surgical outcomes and safety.
